Level of difficulty

Medium difficulty

Learning objectives

  • Learn the basics of the maneuver
  • Precise access from different directions
  • Gaining peace and routine

Prerequisites

  • solid command of the yacht under engine power
  • Good judgment and clean stopping of the yacht
  • Successful completion of the exercise at least 3 times: Stopping at the jetty

Description

Moor the yacht alongside the guest mooring sign at the long free jetty.

Challenges and possible solutions:

Stopping somewhere near the sign is only the first exercise. Once you've managed that, the challenge is to stop right in front of the sign. If things get tight later on, one meter can make all the difference. It's also important to bring the ship to a complete standstill and not to scrape along the jetty—even though the jetty here is quite well padded.
